Four-star LB announces for Oregon

Oregon added an important piece to their recruiting puzzle when Bethesda (Md.) Landon School standout Keith Simms made his announcement via social media.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound athlete becomes the 18th member of the Ducks’ class of 2016 with just a few days remaining until National signing day on February 3rd.

The final decision came down to Maryland and Oregon for the Rivals four-star prospect although he had dozens of scholarship offers from across the nation. In addition to Oregon he took official visits to Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia Tech. Cal and Stanford also offered from the Pac-12.

Simms joins Eric Briscoe Jr., Darrian Franklin, JC transfer A.J. Hotchkins and Lamar Winston as 2016 additions to the Oregon linebacker group.

Oregon may not be done at linebacker for this class although only a couple offers remain at the position. Caleb Kelly certainly has an offer with the Ducks being the dark horse of his three finalists, and Calvin Bundage who is listed in the database as a LB but would likely be a safety for the Ducks.

With Simms the Ducks break back into the Top 20 recruiting classes at #19 and hope to move even higher after Wednesday.

Oregon is looking for a couple more commitments over the next few days as Wednesday draws ever closer.
